INWA’s focus, when it began, was to develop high-quality education. Nordic Walking was seen as a “fitness and exercise activity” rather than as a sport. Now Nordic Walkers are looking at different ways to use the activity for competitive sport, group walks, tours and other events that celebrate or display Nordic Walking.
Accordingly, INWA has set up an “Events Committee” that works with members and others organisers to develop, plan and present a range of events.
World Nordic Walking Day
The INWA Convention, usually held in September, is INWA’s premier event for members, coaches and instructors. There are always excellent presentations and workshops delivered by experts. The INWA Annual General Meeting is held the day before the Convention begins.
Additionally, there are social events that enable participants to renew acquaintances and friendships and make new ones.
The 2016 INWA Convention will be held in Verona, Italy from 30th of September till 2nd of October.
This year’s Convention will be jointly hosted by INWA Italy in partnership with the University of Verona and promises to be a very interesting event. The University of Verona has shown a very strong interest in Nordic Walking from a Research and Scientific perspective and will therefore be a very important partner of INWA in the field of science.
As always, also this year we will have the AGM on the 29th of September at 10:00 am and we encourage your active participation in this. We look forward to receiving your agenda items so that your topics can be discussed by all of INWA’s members.
